Is it necessary to use VPN when accessing e-mail options or CorporateTime when you are away from the office?
We recommend using the VPN whenever you are connecting to the Notre Dame network from off-campus and accessing University information. Your connection to the ND e-mail server is encrypted by default, so it is not necessary to use the VPN if you are only checking mail. Note that the default e-mail encryption discussed here applies only to your connection to the ND mail server. It does not encrypt the message when it is sent to another user over the Internet.
