Information Security Related Policies
A variety of University policies exist that detail how to more securely handle and manage University data and resources.
Information Security Policy
This policy lays the foundation for a common understanding of information security at Notre Dame based upon the generally accepted information security principles of confidentiality, integrity and availability.
Responsible Use of Information Technologies at Notre Dame
This document constitutes the University policy for the management of computer networks, personal computers and the resources made available thereby. The policy reflects the ethical principles of the University community and indicates, in general, the privileges and responsibilities of those using University computing resources.
Strong Passwords
As described by the current Responsible Use Policy, each Notre Dame computer user is responsible for his or her use of technology on campus. The integrity and secrecy of an individual's password is a key element of that responsibility. This Policy describes the University's requirements for acceptable password selection and maintenance. Its purpose is to reduce overall risk to the institution by helping computer users reasonably avoid security and privacy risks that result from weak password choices and to encourage attention to password secrecy.
