Skillsoft Online Technical Training

As part of the Notre Dame Information Security Program, the OIT is offering SkillSoft online technical security training to campus IT technical support staff.  Campus IT support staff is encouraged to take the security training in their applicable area(s). Online training is available in:

  • Oracle Security
  • SQL Server Security
  • Cisco Security
  • Linux/Unix/Solaris/RedHat Security
  • Windows Server 2003/2008 Security
  • Windows XP/Vista Security

Those within OIT who hold technical positions have been entered into the Skillsoft system already. To view the site, visit http://secure.nd.edu/courses and sign into Skillsoft using your temporary credentials:

Login: firstname.lastname
Password: notredame

You will be required to change your password as part of your initial login. Once in the site, you can click on the Catalog tab at the top to view the entire course catalog. Clicking on a course title will give you an overview of the course before you actually access the course itself and use a license.

Managers may want to use the Skillsoft courses as part of an employee's professional development. Courses may be assigned to employees and reports on employees' training history can be run, though both these tasks must be done by a site administrator. Contact Anne Kolaczyk for assistance with either of these tasks.

A limited number of licenses have been purchased to meet the security training needs of the campus IT technical staff. You may log in and review the course catalog and course overviews without claiming a license, but as soon you open a course, you have claimed a license for the duration of the year's contract. Please be sure if you claim a license that you intend to make use of it.

Employees have been placed in groupings according to the type of security training they are expected to take, but aftwards they may take any of the Skillsoft courses in our catalog. Besides the courses in technical security, Skillsoft provides technical certification training (including CCNA, MCSE, CISSP, and many others), courses in network technologies, software development and a wide range of other technical subjects.

If you have any questions about the SkillSoft courses, user accounts, course assignments or reporting, please contact Anne Kolacyzk.

If your staff members desire access to another area, or do not have access to an area covered by your group, please contact David Seidl.
